Usage of Colors

Somaiya’s primary brand color is Power Red, Vitality Red & Pantone Grey

Following this simple rule will help you maintain a strong brand connection to the university and createcoherent and impactful materials.

In addition to Cornell red, there are a number of other colors available to you. The graphic here depicts general guidance for the use of color. While not an exact equation, the percentages should be referenced when working on design.

Style

Photography is an integral part of the new Somaiya Vidyavihar University brand. To represent the freedom, the ability to cross pollinate and learn from the multiple learning pathways that the programs offer, the photographs must

  • Have a lot of open area and white space
  • Showcase the beauty of the campus
  • Have a strong source of light
  • Include portraits of students and teachers
  • Include collaboration of groups of people learning and growing
  • Exude positivity and confidence and hope for the future

Guideline & Sourcing

Here are some tips to follow when selecting and using imagery for the Somaiya website:

  • Use large enough images so they appear sharp — not pixelated — at every breakpoint and on all devices.
  • Recommended file types are .jpgs and .pngs. Avoid .tifs and .gifs
  • Make sure to follow proper accessibility guidelines for photography.
  • Stock imagery should be used sparingly. Try not to use it at all, but if needed www.pixabay.com and www.pexels.com are good resources for royalty-free photos that are free to use.
